Finger cymbals, love them or hate them, they’re a staple in belly dance. Dancers of all styles from traditional styles to fusion and FCBD® can and do use them.
For many people though, they’re a headache. They don’t want the noise, the difficulty of playing and moving. But they really stand out when they’re done well!
Like any instrument, they take time to learn and perfect. But there is a fast way to pick them up.
That’s why we’re here to help!
Amanda has over 35 years of experience as a musician and over 10 years as a dancer. She enjoys both playing music on many different instruments and has been playing finger cymbals her whole dancing life, plus has dabbled in playing percussion instruments throughout the years.
We will be taking a look at how you can get started with cymbals, moving comfortably with them and even finding new patterns to play beyond the plain boring 3s.
